The demand for home security systems has increased greatly and there are no signs of it slowing down. The main reason being, of course, is the increase in breakins in business and residential areas of just about every city on this planet. Living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I experience the senseless violence and uncaring attitudes like everyone else. On the news, I watched how a seventy-seven year old woman feared for her life, while her attackers broke in and hit her over the head, strangled her and broke her foot. ADT Home Security System - ADT Security Services Canada, Inc. has been the leader in electronic security systems and services for over 125 years. This is an excellent company to start your research on. If you don't live in Canada you will find a dropdown box on the left side of the site where you can select the location you are in. They specialize in residential as well as business security systems.

You will also find news, bulletins, changes in law and other announcements that may affect the usage of home security systems within each province of Canada. The only drawback to the ADT site above is the very small and light font size they use. The information is there, but it could be a little more user-friendly and I think they could also improve on their design.

VOXCOM - VOXCOM.com greets you with this fact: 'Unfortunately, crime is a fact: Every 2 minutes and 39 seconds someone in Canada falls victim to a home intrusion or property crime.' Is this enough to convince you to get a home security system in Canada? Maybe. Is it enough to convince you to get a home security system from voxcom? Remember, do your homework and ask questions.

The great thing about the VOXCOM website is that it has a more user-friendly interface and it is easier to read and understand. AS you go through the site, the information part guides you through simple questions which encourages you to inquire for more information and therefore promoting more sales.

Honeywell Security and Custom Electronics - this site can offer great deals on home security systems in Canada. The page may be a little slow to load, but it's well worth the wait.

They not only offer home security systems but internet and information security as well. The Honeywell site is also regularly updated on new products and developments when they occur. Home security systems offered by Honeywell include residential and business security, wiring services, internet video and other products. They also offer do-it-yourself home security kits, so there could be some savings for you on installation costs.

Chubb Security - Chubb's website is a bilingual site; so you can choose either the English or French version. There is also a link for USA as well. It also has an important link for customers regarding changes to the Daylight Savings Time changes that may affect existing home security systems.

There is much information on this site and you will do well to go through it. My only problem again is the fonts. They use a grey color for the font and I wish the letters were a little larger.

AlarmForce - I just recently saw my first AlarmForce television ad about two weeks ago. It was a pretty good commercial and I like their logo. I just wish these guys would stop using small grey fonts. You can barely read it. Their homepage states the 'AlarmForce Difference' -

"AlarmForce gives you the best system with no upfront costs. Our two-way voice communication is included in every system for free and your monthly monitoring stays the same even if you choose to add equipment."

AlarmForce has a patented technology they call - AlarmPlus. It basically states that where most monitored alarm systems send their signals through telephone lines, AlarmPlus sends a wireless signal to the AlarmForce Central Monitoring Station should your telephone line be tampered with in any way. I like that.

Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada - this website does not exactly offer home security systems in Canada. However, you can find some pretty useful tips and guides that may help, but it may not exactly be easy to find.

Hopefully this sites will get you started in finding just the right and the best home security system for your needs, and that is what we are all looking for, right? All it takes is a bit of searching and a lot of patience, but your safety, security and peace of mind are all worth it.
